Team falls to Denver in I-25 matchup
DENVER – From the first serve, every court demanded focus as competitive intensity set the tone for the match.
Â
Colorado State opened play against Denver, battling through a full slate of doubles and singles matches, some of which were left unfinished. The Rams showed resilience throughout the lineup, highlighted by a strong doubles performance that kept momentum intense from the start. Despite the 4-0 result, the Rams finished with strength.
Colorado State snared a doubles win at the No. 2 position, where Hanna Haber and Leyla Tozin delivered a composed 6–4 win. The pairing stayed steady in key moments, providing an early spark as the remaining courts came down to execution late. Denver claimed the other two doubles matches to narrowly secure the point, but the margins reflected the competitiveness across all three courts.
Singles play followed a similar script, with close battles at the top of the lineup. Luana Avelar, Sorcha Caves, and Tozin each stayed within striking distance early, with first sets tightly contested before matches were left unfinished. The host Pioneers were able to claim the team win by getting wins at the bottom three positions.
Colorado State will finish a challenging weekend when it hosts Minnesota on Sunday – concluding a run of three consecutive days of duals – with a Green Out at the Genesis Health Club (11:30 a.m.)
