At the NCAA Mountain Region Cross Country Championships today, the Colorado State women placed third with a score of 104 points, while the men were fifth, also with 104 points.
Crystal Clark, Colleen Blair and Nicole Feest finished 16th, 17th and 18th, respectively, to lead the Rams. Clark crossed the 6K finish line in 21:47.9, while Blair ran a 21:52.5 and Feest finished in 21:52.9. Jennifer Kintzley and Michelle Carman rounded out the scoring, finishing 26th and 27th, respectively.
The men's team was led by Austin Vigil, who finished in seventh place with a time of 31:10.9 for the 10 kilometer course. Josh Glaab was 16th, while Mike Nicks was 21st, Bill Michel was 28th and Matt Cianciulli was 32nd for the Rams.
Neither team earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, as the top two teams qualify, but both stand good chances of advancing as at-large berths. A total of 13 at-large berths are given out by the championships committee. Those will be announced on Monday, Nov. 17.
