Colorado State University's football team went through its first workout in San Francisco Saturday.
Coach Sonny Lubick put his team through a two hour practice at the City College of San Francisco, the team's Diamond Walnut San Francisco headquaters.
"I liked our practice," said Lubick. "It was as good a first day as we've had at a bowl site. It was a new enviroment and the players seemed excited. We need to get another one in Sunday like we had today to give ourselves a chance. We're playing against a real physical football team."
The Rams (7-5), face Boston College (7-5), New Year's Eve at Pac Bell Stadium. Game time is 7:30 p.m. PST/8:30 p.m. MST and will be shown on ESPN2.
Rams' quarterback Bradlee Van Pelt returned to full speed practices for the first time since breaking a bone in his right hand during the team's final regular season game at UNLV. Van Pelt underwent surgery two days after that game and had a pin inserted in his hand. In previous bowl practices he had been limited to mostly throwing but was not in full pads until Saturaday's workout.
"Bradlee looked like he threw okay," said Lubick. "Today was the first time he had thrown quite a bit."
