Fort Collins, Colo. ? Colorado State University Director of Athletics Mark Driscoll today announced a two-game, home-and-home football series with the University of Southern California.
?This is an exciting opportunity for our football program,? Driscoll said. ?This is a a chance to establish a home-and-home series with a program likely to be playing for the national championship in 2003.?
Driscoll said the Rams will play the Trojans Sept. 11, 2004 at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Colorado State will then play host to the Trojans on Sept. 6, 2008 at INVESCO Field at Mile High in Denver.
?With so many of our student-athletes from California, the game in 2004 offers those individuals and our coaches a showcase for our program. We also have the opportunity to bring one of the nation?s most respected programs to play in front of Ram fans throughout the region when USC comes to Denver.?
Colorado State will open the 2004 season by playing in ?state rival Colorado in Boulder on Sept. 4. A week later, the Rams play at USC, before returning home to face the University of Minnesota at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium.
Next year's game will be the first-ever meeting of the teams.
Driscoll said the rest of the schedule has not been finalized. He said the entire schedule would be announced to the public when all playing dates have been confirmed.
