Fort Collins, Colo./April 5, 2003 - With four practices now behind his Colorado State University football team, Rams' coach Sonny Lubick walked off the field Saturday happy with his team's progress.

"Today was much better than the last time we were out here in pads," said Lubick of his team's two-hour workout Saturday morning. It was the second practice in a row - and fourth since the team opened spring workouts last Tuesday - that the Rams were in full pads.

"Defensively seemed to have the upper hand a little, but that's expected. I thatough the players worked hard. I was very encouraged," said Lubick.

He said the coaching staff has already put in alot of the Rams' offensive and defensive schemes in four days of spring workouts.

"We've put a lot of it. The things we have to work on are lining up in the right place, the gaps. Those are things we can coach," he said.

Lubick will give his team Sunday and Monday off, then return to the field for workouts Tuesday and Wednesday. He said he plans more live hitting next Saturday in a situational scrimmage.

Weekday practices begin at 3:30 p.m. The start time for next Saturday's workout will be announced later in the week.
