Football Picked To Win Conference Title

LAS VEGAS - For the third consecutive year, Colorado State was selected to win the 2003 Mountain West Conference football title in a pre-season poll of MWC media members.

The Rams return 17 starters from last season's 10-4 squad, and have either won outright or shared three Mountain West Conference titles (1999, 2000, 2002) since 1999. CSU claimed 18-of-21 first place votes and 164 points.

2002 Las Vegas Bowl participant New Mexico was second with 140 total points and one first place vote, marking the Lobos highest ranking in the annual pre-season poll.

Air Force and BYU were separated by three points, with the Falcons finishing third with 113 points, followed by the Cougars with 110. Both teams received one first place vote.

A total of 11 points divided spots five through seven, with Utah (73) claiming the fifth spot, trailed by UNLV (67) and San Diego State (62). Wyoming rounded out the balloting with 27 points.
