Andy Klussmann Hospitalized

Fort Collins, Colo. ? Colorado State University assistant volleyball coach Andy Klussmann is in intensive care in a Cheyenne, Wyo., hospital following a traffic accident Sunday afternoon that claimed the life of his wife, Janna.
Klussmann, 40, and his family were involved in an accident at the intersection of South Greeley Highway and Interstate 80 near Cheyenne. Klussmann?s wife was driving the car at the time of the accident and died as a result of the injuries she sustained.
?The thoughts and prayers of everyone associated with our program are with Andy and his family,? said Director of Athletics Mark Driscoll. ?This is a very tragic situation for Andy and his family. We will do everything possible to assist them in this time of need.?
Head coach Tom Hilbert was notified of the accident Sunday afternoon.
?The prayers and thoughts of all of our student-athletes and staff are with Andy and his family,? said Hilbert.
Hilbert said he hopes that supporters of the program respect the family?s privacy during this time.
Klussmann is currently is listed in critical condition in intensive care at United Medial Center-West in Cheyenne. The couple?s two sons, one-year-old Jackson and two-and-a-half-old Drew, and Klussmann?s mother were all passengers in the car. The children not injured and their grandmother was treated at the hospital and released.
Klussmann completed his fourth season as a member of CSU?s volleyball staff in 2003. He has coached the past 11 years with the NORCO club volleyball team in Fort Collins.
Klussmann played volleyball at UCLA from 1983-86 and led the team to back-to-back NCAA Championships in 1983 and ?84. He was the team captain as a senior, then he played professionally in Europe and on the pro beach volleyball circuit from 1988-91. He entered the coaching profession as a graduate assistant at UCLA in 1987.
