Rams Wrap Up Sunday Practice
8/15/2004 12:00:00 AM | Football
Head Coach Sonny Lubick guided the Rams through a two-hour workout culminated by a 25-play 11-on-11 scrimmage to wrap up the day. The Rams resume their two-a-day workouts on Monday with practices at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Sophomore quarterback Joey Kearney (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) headlined the live action completing 5-of-7 passes for 42 yards while junior Justin Holland (Lakewood, Colo.) hit 2-of-4 receivers for 23 yards.
On the ground, Jimmy Green (San Diego, Calif.) touched the ball three times for 11 yards while freshman Tramell McGill (Chandler, Ariz.) made two carries for 10 yards.
Dustin Osborn (La Junta, Colo.) was the top receiving player of the day hauling in two catches for 36 yards.
The offense compiled five first downs on four drives on the day.
"We were a little sluggish today," commented Lubick. "We were not as sharp as we should have been. Guys get tired with the heat coming off the turf.
"We try to emulate the Denver Broncos' practices adding more contact each day. Tomorrow, we'll probably have one full period of live contact."
Colorado State opens the season Sept. 4 at Colorado. Game time is 6 p.m. Mountain Time. The game will be shown live nationally by Fox Sports Network. It will be broadcast statewide on the Colorado State Sports Network produced by Nelligan Sports Marketing.
