Cross Country Men Win, Women Second In Opener

At the Wyoming Invitational in Laramie, the Colorado State men's cross country team was victorious with 27 points, defeating UCCS, Air Force and Wyoming, while the women's team was second with 57 points to Wyoming's 38.

Junior Danielle Korb won the women's 2.5 mile race with a time of 14:46, winning by 20 seconds over Jennifer Thompson of Wyoming. Senior Michelle Carman finished fourth in 15:16, freshman Valerie McGregor was 14th in 15:37, freshman Heather Loseke was 17th in 15:47 and sophomore Rebekah Yetzer rounded out the scoring in 22nd place with a clocking of 16:06.

Senior Josh Glaab paced the men with a second place finish, running a 21:57 to start the season. Junior Rob Watson placed fourth with a time of 22:01, Dave Zakavec was seventh in 22:23, freshman Jeff Scull ran a 22:33 to finish eighth, fellow freshman Andres Urbina was ninth in 22:35 and sophomore Matt Pettit was 10th in 22:36 for the Rams.

Colorado State will host the CSU Open next Saturday in Fort Collins.
