Lucky Two Seed: 2005 marks the third time in seven years the Rams have been the second seed at the Mountain West Conference Tournament. In both 1999 and 2004 the Rams won the tournament as the two seed. CSU also won the championship in 2003 as the one seed, becoming the first top seed to win the championship.
Lobo Matchup: For the third straight season, the Rams will face New Mexico in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament. Colorado State has won the previous two meetings, in three games last season and four games in 2003. If the Rams reach the semifinals, they will face the winner of the #3 Utah vs #6 Wyoming match. The Rams and Utes have met in the last two championship matches and CSU is 3-1 against Utah in the Mountain West Tournament. CSU and Wyoming have never met in the Mountain West Tournament.
Back-to-Back: Junior libero Katherine Whitney tallied 17 digs in each of the last two matches, which ties for the 15th most in a three-game match in school history. During the Rams six-match winning streak, Whitney has averaged 4.64 digs per game.
Block Party: Colorado State has three players averaging at least one block per game this season. Senior middle blocker Dre Downs leads the way with 1.52 per game (143 blocks), while freshman middle blocker Mekana Barnes averages 1.21 blocks per game (111 blocks) and freshman setter Ashley Fornstrom averages 1.00 blocks per game (91 blocks).
Kat Like Reflexes: Katherine Whitney has 385 digs this season, which ties for fourth on the CSU single-season charts and she is on pace to become the first Ram to average over four digs per game for a season as she currently averages 4.05 per game. Whitney also tallied her 500th dig at CSU against New Mexico and now has 533. Her career average of 3.21 digs per game would break the school record of 3.03 held by Lindsey Kerr (2001-03) and is only the second time in school history a player has averaged over three digs per game for her career. She is also just 53 digs shy of the school record of 437 by Carrie Appleman in 1992.
Downs Straight Down: Against Air Force in the regular season finale for the Rams, Dre Downs hit .722 (14-1-18), tying for the 14th best hitting percentage in a match in school history. Earlier in the week against TCU, Downs hit .667 (14-2-18). Downs is now hitting .348 on the year, which ranks second in the Mountain West and ranks 13th on the single-season charts at CSU. She is also hitting .295 for her career to ranks 12th in school history.
Another Milestone: Against New Mexico on Friday evening, senior outside hitter Tess Rogers recorded her 1,500th career kills and now has 1,516 to rank seventh in school history and second in Mountain West Conference history. She is now just 35 kills shy of moving into sixth on the CSU career list (1,550, Catie Vagneur, 1995-98).
Ace In The Hole: Colorado State has had at least one service ace in all 26 matches this season and in the last 33 matches. The Rams have been serving well of late, notching at least seven aces in the last seven matches, averaging 2.00 aces per game over that stretch. In conference play, the Rams averaged 1.61 aces per game, compared to 1.38 in non-conference matches.

The Kat's Out of the Bag: Katherine Whitney has tallied 20 or more digs in four matches this season. The school record for most in one year is five by Carrie Appleman in 1992. Appleman also holds the career record with nine matches of at least 20 digs. Whitney's four matches over 20 is tied for the fourth most in school history.

Mekana Barnes leads the way with 1.38 per game, while Dre Downs has averaged 1.36 blocks per game, Ashley Fornstrom is at 1.23 per game and sophomore right-side hitter Tonya Mokelki has averaged 1.09 blocks per game. Mokelki has also been second on the team with a .346 hitting percentage, while Downs has hit .389 over the six matches.
