Trio of Rams Named All-Conference

The Colorado State volleyball team, which finished second in the Mountain West regular season, placed the three seniors on the all-conference squad, announced the league office tonight.
Senior outside hitter Tess Rogers earned her third straight award. She leads the team in kills and ranks fifth in the Mountain West with 3.57 a game. She recorded her 1,500th career kill last weekend against New Mexico and ranks seventh in school history with 1,516, as well as eighth in solo blocks with 68.
Senior middle blocker Dre Downs, who leads the Mountain West Conference in blocks and ranks among the top 15 in the nation, earns her second straight all-conference honor. Downs ranks 13th in career kills with 1,156 and is eighth in total blocks with 414.
Senior outside hitter Casey Bauer earns her first all-conference award after ranking second on the team in both kills (3.47) and digs (2.50) and ranks ninth in the Mountain West in kills per game.
BYU's junior middle blocker Lindsy Hartsock was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year, while senior setter Lauren Evans was named the league's setter of the year. San Diego State sophomore Aime Cordeiro earned the league's libero of the year honor and Utah's Airial Salvo was named the Freshman of the Year. Others on the All-Conference team include from BYU, sophomore outside hitter Chelsea Goodman, sophomore outside hitter Erica Lott, from Utah, Salvo and senior outside hitter Shelly Sommerfeldt, Wyoming's sophomore outside hitter Rachel Smith, UNLV's senior middle blocker Lauren Miramontes and sophomore outside hitter Maria Aladjova and from San Diego State senior middle blocker Lindsey Noll.
The Rams open the Mountain West Tournament tomorrow against New Mexico at 1:30 p.m. (Pacific) in the quarterfinals. CSU is the two-seed for the second-straight year, while the Lobos are the seven seed.
