Colorado State University began its final week of spring football practice Wednesday with a two-hour workout in shorts and helmets.
Coach Sonny Lubick, in his 13th season at the helm, will put his team through two more weekday workouts - Wednesday and Friday - then conduct an intrasquad spring game Saturday at French Field in Fort Collins.
Saturday's spring game kicks off at 11 a.m. at the local high school facility, located at Shields and Swallow Streets, with fan seating available on the stadium's west side only. The Rams are using the facility while renovations continue at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium.
Preceding the spring game, CSU's Spirit Committee will again host a free pancake breakfast, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The breakfast will take place at the southwest corner of the French Field playing facility. Saturday's game will be broadcast live by KCOL Radio (600 AM) in Fort Collins, the flagship station on the school's sports network. Rich Bircumshaw calls the play-by-play, while former Rams all-star Erik Olson provides color commentary.
As he has done the past 12 seasons, Lubick will gather his staff and a group of boosters and split the squad and his coaching staff for Saturday's game.
Colorado State opens the 2005 season against the University of Colorado in Boulder on Sept. 3. The Rams play at the University of Minnesota the following week, before having an open date, then facing the University of Nevada Sept. 24 in the first game of the season at the newly-remodeled stadium.
