Sonny Lubick had two major goals in mind prior to Colorado State University's Green-Gold spring game Saturday in Fort Collins.
By the end of the game at French Field, he figured his team had met both goals.
"The number one thing was to come out healthy," said the 13th-year mentor. "We did that. The other objective was to get everybody to play (in the game) and have fun."
The Rams did not, however, escape injuries totally. Kory Sperry, a starter in the final six games a year ago as a true freshman, separated his shoulder late in the game, but should be in full health by the time the team reports for practice in August. Junior wide receiver Dustin Osborn, fifth on the team in receiving a year ago, broke his left collarbone during the first half of the game, and like Sperry, figures to be fully healthy by the time the 2005 season arrives.

Walkon kicker Jarrod Lamb made a 43-yard field goal with 10 seconds left to play, helping his Green team to a 19-16 win in the intrasquad game.
Quarterback Justin Holland, who figures to be the team starter, guided his team 77 yards in eight plays on the opening drive of the game to put the Gold team ahead, 7-0 with nine minutes, 41 seconds left in the quarter. Holland hit receiver David Anderson on a nine-yard scoring pass.
"Justin came out like gangbusters," said Lubick. "He put the ball on the money."
Lamb's first field goal of the game, from 37 yards out, put his team on the board.
The teams were tied at 16 at halftime, and there would be no more scoring until Lamb's game-winning kick.
Runningback Jimmy Green scored on a one-yard run with 10 minutes, 48 seconds left in the second quarter to put his Green team ahead, 9-7.
But the leads lasted only seconds. Reserve quarterback Billy Farris' attempted conversion pass was intercepted by Darryl Williams and returned for two points to knot the score at nine apiece.
Four minutes later in the quarter, Holland hit George Hilll on a five-yard scoring pass and the conversion put the Gold team back on top, 16-9. Green's two-yard run with one minute, 38 seconds left in the second quarter and Lamb's point-after knotted the score at 16, where it remained until the final seconds.
Green led the Green team with 71 rushing yards on 14 carries and a pair of touchdowns. Kyle Bell was the top rusher for the Gold team, gaining 52 yards on 12 carries.
Holland opened the game by completing 9-of-10 passes and finished the day 11-of-17 for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Anderson caught four passes for 59 yards and a score, and Gold teammate George Hill had four catches for 49 yards and a score.
Caleb Hanie, who replaced Holland in the lineup a year ago, topped the Green team by completing 11-of-20 passes for 139 yards. The Green team's top receiver was Luke Roberts, who had five catches for 94 yards.
Lubick said in past years, he and his staff had matched his first and second teams against one another. This week, the staff "drafted" the teams and split them evenly.
"We had more consistency than I thought we'd have," said Lubick. "We also have a little more depth than we've had the past few years."
Lubick said overall he was pleased with his team's play during the spring.
The Rams will open the 2005 season Sept. 3 in Boulder against Colorado, then play at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis the following week. After an open date, the Rams face the University of Nevada, Sept. 24, in the grand re-opening of newly renovated Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium.
