The Colorado State men's team, which finished the season ranked 24th overall, lost just two off the team that placed fourth at the Mountain West Conference Championship. They return a potent senior lineup in Josh Glaab and Paul Michel, not to mention juniors Nelson Palacios and Rob Watson. Also returning are sophomores Andres Urbina and Dave Zakavec, who competed in the majority of meets in 2004 for the Rams. Glaab was a NCAA Mountain All-Region selection as well as a Mountain West First-Team All-Conference selection a year ago and is the school record holder in the indoor 5000 meters.
The women's team, which ended the year ranked 26th, lost quite a bit of star-power in Colleen Blair, Michelle Carman and Crystal Clark, but return one of the top three competitors in Danielle Korb. Korb was named to the 2004 NCAA Mountain All-Region team last season and was also a Mountain West First-Team All-Conference selection. Linnea Pudwill, who was a freshman phenom last year and Rebekah Yetzer also return for the 2005 season.
Incoming freshman Kristen Hemphill was named the Gatorade Athlete of the Year for the state of New Mexico last year and Chantelle Dron from New Hampshire ranked among the top five high schoolers in the nation in both the 800 meters and 1500 meters in 2004 and both are expected to make immediate contributions to a solid lineup for head coach Del Hessel.
The Rams will host the Mountain West Conference Championship for the second time in the league's existence, hosting at Collindale Golf Course on October 29, 2005.
