FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State University football fans got a peek at the school's renovated Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium Saturday during a two-hour open house.
More than 2,000 fans were treated to a free pancake breakfast in the Ram Zone tent where normally pregame activities take place the day of a home game, then tours of the renovated facility. Athletic department staff members, Ram Club Board members, and volunteers also provided ticket information to fans attending the event.
In the past 22 months, thanks in part to a $15.2 million donation by the Bohemian Foundation, more than 4,000 permanent seats were installed in the north end zone and two new scoreboards and a new video board. That part of the project was completed a year ago. Since then, changes have included the addition of 12 luxury suites, all of which are already sold, a renovated press box, and expanded Rams Horn club seating area.
The west side structure - which includes the suites, club seating area, and press box - now has more more than 37,000 square feet of space, nearly double the size of the original structure.
The renovation included the expansion of the exisiting structure 20 feet to the west, and 45 feet to the north and south with the addition of the two levels of luxury suites.
The facililty was designed by HOK Sport, and the local architect is Aller Lingle Architects P.C. Turner Construction completed the facility.
