Conference Bound: The men's and women's teams head to Salt Lake City this weekend to compete in the Mountain West Conference Championships, hosted by the University of Utah. The women's race begins at 10:00 a.m., while the men's race is scheduled to follow at 11:00 a.m. The women's team has six second-place finishes in seven seasons, while the men's team has placed second on three occasions, including last year.

A Look Back: In 2005, Colorado State hosted the Mountain West Championships, with the men placing second and the women finishing third. Josh Glaab was the lone first-team all-conference selection, while this year's senior Rob Watson was a second-team all-conference pick along with Paul Michel. For the women, Danielle Korb, Kristen Hemphill and April Thomas were all named to the second-team and return for this year's competition.

Pre-Nationals Recap: The women's team finished 11th at the Pre-Nationals meet in Terre Haute, Indiana, scoring 323 points, while the men's team placed 29th with 702 points. Senior Nicole Feest continued her strong season, finishing 22nd overall with a time of 20:46 for 6,000 meters. April Thomas also ran a stellar race, placing 30th with a time of 20:54. Danielle Korb was 52nd overall with a time of 21:15, while Heather Loseke was 95th in 21:42 and Kirsten Anthony rounded out the scoring in 124th with a time of 21:59. Kristen Hemphill also placed 134th and Renee Mayer was 187th for the Rams. The men's team was paced by Ryan Kirkpatrick and Rob Watson with times of 25:01 for the 8-kilometer race, with Kirkpatrick in 119th and Watson finishing in 121st place. Sophomore Jeremy Freed and Andres Urbina finished with times of 25:14 for 151st and 152nd place, respectively and Jeff Wahl was 159th with a time of 25:18.

Freed Honored: Jeremy Freed ran a personal best time of 25:24.55 en route to a 27th place finish at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational. His time and finish earned Freed the Mountain West Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week honor. This is the first award of his career and the only time this season a Ram has been honored.

Coach Inducted: First year head coach Bryan Berryhill will be inducted into the Colorado State Hall of Fame on Nov. 3. Berryhill was a 10-time All-American for the Rams, winning two NCAA titles during his career. In 2001, he won the mile title at the NCAA Indoor Championship, then won the 1500 meter championship at the Outdoor Championship. Joining Berryhill as inductees are Ivan Dyekman (track & field), Mark Mullaney (football), Angela Knopf (volleyball), Floyd Kerr (basketball) and Tom Hilbert (Hall of Honor).
