Fort Collins - Four Colorado State University football players have been named to the preseason All-Mountain West Team by Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook, the publication announced today.
Wide receiver Johnny Walker, running back Kyle Bell, cornerback Robert Herbert, and punter Jimmie Kaylor all earned preseason honors from the magazine, which hits newsstands in early July.
Walker is a 6-foot, 190-pound junior from Lancaster, Calif., who had four 100-yard receiving games in 2005. He finished second on the team behind all-star David Anderson with 43 receptions for 663 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Bell rushed for 1,288 yards, the fourth highest season total in Colorado State history on his way to second-team all-league honors. Bell, a 6-foot-2, 226-pound junior, was 22nd nationally in rushing last season.
Herbert led the league in pass deflections in 2005 and was fourth on the team with 72 tackles. He also intercepted three passes. Herbert is a 6-foot-1, 208-pound senior from Alta Loma, Calif.
Kaylor, a junior from Northglenn, led the league by averaging 45.2 yards per punt a season ago, the second best season in CSU history. Kaylor was fourth in the nation in punting in 2005.
