ON STARTS
Colorado State is off to a 2-0 start for the fifth time in Sonny Lubick's 14 seasons as heads coach, and first since 2002. Only once in Sonny Lubick's previous 13 seasons have the Rams opened a season with three consecutive wins: In 1994, CSU opened 7-0 and eventually finished 10-2.

NO TELEVISION COVERAGE
Colorado State's game at Nevada will not be telecast live or taped delay and there is no broadband coverage available. Under NCAA college football guidelines, the home team controls the television rights, and the game is not part of any conference (WAC) or local television package. The same will be true for CSU's game Sept. 30 at Fresno State.

NEXT WEEK
Colorado State has its first of two open dates on the schedule next week. The Rams then return to action Sept. 30 with a game at Fresno State.

LONE STAR STARTER
QB Caleb Hanie is the first Texan to open a season at quarterback under Rams' coach Sonny Lubick. Since 1993, the Rams have boasted a trio of Coloradans (Justin Holland, 2004, '05; Matt Newton, 1999, 2000; Ryan Eslinger (1998) and two Californians (D.J. Busch, 2001; Moses Moreno, 1995) to open the season. No Texan has been the team's opening-game starter in the past 50 seasons.

WALKER CAREER DAY
WR Johnny Walker had the finest day of his career against Colorado with a career-most 10 receptions for a career-best 158 yards. Walker caught a 32-yard reception late in the game to seal the win, CSU's longest pass play of the season. The junior from Corona, Calif., now has five career 100-yard receiving games.

IN NO RUSH
In two games in 2006, Colorado State has allowed a total of 37 rushing yards, 18.5 per game. Through two games last season, CSU had allowed 468 yards rushing, 234.0 per game.

TOTAL DEFENSE
Through the first two games of the 2006 season, Colorado State has allowed 232 total yards, 116 per game (first in the nation). By comparison, through two games a season ago, Colorado State had allowed 941 total yards, 470.5 per game.

DEFENSIVE STAND
Colorado marched 65 yards on its first offensive possession of last week's game, scoring a touchdown. From that point on, CU ran 39 offensive plays and gained only 81 more yards, 2.1 per play the rest of the game.

SUDDEN CHANGE
Colorado State has given up three turnovers in two games. But following each of the three turnovers, opponents have managed to score only three field goals. Two opponents have scored a total of 16 points against Colorado State, nine following CSU turnovers.

SACK PACK
Through two games, Colorado State's defense has been credited with 11 quarterback sacks. A season ago, Colorado State did not get the team's 11th sack until the eighth game of the campaign.

under 20 victory
Colorado State's 14-10 win last week against Colorado marked only the sixth time in Sonny Lubick's career in Fort Colllins that the Rams scored fewer than 20 points and were victorious.

DOUBLE-FIGURE RECEIVER
WR Johnny Walker's 10 receptions for 158 yards in the win over Colorado marked the first time since the 2005 season opener the Rams had a receiver in double figures in receptions. In 2005, WR David Anderson caught 12 passes in the Rams' opening game at Colorado.

two new faces
Two players made their first career starts in last week's game. OG Adrian Martinez returned to the lineup after missing the opening game with a knee injury suffered during preaseason workouts. Martinez started on the right side, flanked by OC Nick Allotta and OT Josh Day. Allotta had started the previous week at guard in Martinez' absence. WR Luke Roberts made his first career start, replacing senior Dustin Osborn, who was unavailable after suffering an ankle injury in the win over Weber State.

Rams At Home
Colorado State is 49-20 in home games during Lubick's tenure. The Rams are 26-5 in home nonconference games since 1993. The nonconference losses have been at the hands of Oregon (1993), Colorado (1996), Fresno State (2001), Miami of Ohio (2003), and Minnesota (2004).

LUBICK SECOND ON LIST
Rams' coach Sonny Lubick is in his 14th season at the helm in 2006. Only Harry Hughes, who was the school's football coach for 31 years, had a longer tenure than Lubick. Hughes was 125-93-18 during his career. Lubick has a 102-57-0 record, and has the highest winning percentage, 64.1, of any coach in school history. He has led CSU to six conference titles and nine bowl games.

Special Teams Streaks
The Rams have returned 195 kickoffs without a touchdown since Sept. 29, 2001 when Dexter Wynn scored on a kickoff return at Wyoming.

Bryan Berryhill (track and field), Ivan Dykeman (track and field), Floyd Kerr (men's basketball), Angela Knopf (volleyball), and Mark Mullaney (football) form the class of 2006.
