Rams Cross Country starts season across the border

Fort Collins, Colo. - The Colorado State University Cross Country team travels to Laramie, Wyo. on Friday to open their 2007 season at the Wyoming Invitational.
Strong finishes are expected for the Rams, who were highly raked in a pre-season poll conducted by the Mountain West Conference coaches. The poll picked the women's cross country team to finish second in the conference while the men's team was selected to finish fourth.
"We are excited about starting the season at the Wyoming Invite," Bryan Berryhill, head cross country coach said. "This early season meet will let us know what we need to improve on over the next few months in order to work towards our seasonal goals."
The Rams are accustomed to success in Laramie. The women have won the meet the past three years and the men placed first in 2005. In 2006 junior Kirsten Anthony finished second in the women's 2.5 mile race with a time of 14:52, improving on her on second place finish the year before at 15:03.5. The top Ram finisher for the men last year was junior Steve Swartz, who finished 12th overall and 10th in scoring.
This year's races begin at 6 p.m. in Laramie, Wyo.
