TEAM NOTES

Regular-season finales record: The Rams have now won three of their last four regular-season finales, including a triumph over Wyoming in Fort Collins last season.

Freshman starters: Redshirt freshman Mychal Sisson (10) and true freshman Gerard Thomas (9) now have started the third and fourth most games, respectively, by a Rams player this decade.

1,000-yard pair: Gartrell Johnson and Rashaun Greer are CSU's first pair of 1,000-yard players since David Anderson (1,221 receiving yards) and Kyle Bell (1,288 rushing) in 2005, the last time CSU went to a bowl.

Limiting conference's top rushers: For the second straight week, the Rams met one of the conference's top two rushers. This week, it was Devin Moore, who entered leading the MWC with 111.2 yards per game. The Rams held Moore to his lowest rushing total, 78 yards, since he had 74 vs. New Mexico (Oct. 4).

  • Last week, CSU held the MWCs No. 2 rusher Rodney Ferguson (100.5) to just 85 yards; Ferguson had six 100-yard efforts in 10 previous games this year.
No sacks: The Rams today gained 422 total yards and didn't allow a sack.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

Among first-year CSU coaches: Steve Fairchild has won the most games by any first-year head coach in CSU?history. With a sixth win, he passed Matt Rothwell (5-1, 1903), Bob Davis (5-4-1, 1947), Sark Arslanian (5-6, 1973), Earle Bruce (5-5-1, 1989) and Sonny?Lubick (5-6, 1993).

  • No first-year coach has ever led his CSU team to a bowl game. A total of 16 seniors still on the Rams' active roster hope this weekend is not their last game. Even with a win, CSU needs at least a Utah win, and possibly a UNLV?loss, later tonight.
James Morehead: For the second time this season, recovered a fumble just before a go-ahead score. He also pounced on a loose ball to set up Ben DeLine's game-ending field goal vs. Sacramento State (Sept. 6).

Kyle Bell: Had four carries for 28 yards on a first-half field goal drive, giving the Rams much-needed life in a difficult first half.

Anthony Hartz: Connected on a pair of 60-yard punts in the first quarter, including a career-long 64 yarder. He began the day leading the Mountain West in gross average (43.3).

  • Hartz's first-quarter punts were his first punts since the fourth quarter at Air Force (Nov. 8). The Rams did not punt against New Mexico (Nov. 15).
Billy Farris: Increased his season passing yards to 2,677, the sixth-most in CSU history, and most since Justin Holland in 2005.
