The Rams are bowl eligible for the first time in three years, and CSU fans across the nation are proud of the accomplishments by Head Coach Steve Fairchild, his staff and our student-athletes during the 2008 season.
The success enjoyed in 2008 is the first step. Now, we’re ready to take the next step. To do so, we need the support of the entire CSU community.
So, please show your support by purchasing tickets to the game. We hope you will attend in person, but if you can’t, your ticket purchases can be given to other groups as a tax-deductible gift.
The team may not officially know its bowl destination until as late as Dec. 7, after the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) makes its selections. But wherever the location, one fact is certain: The best seats will be available through the Colorado State ticket office.
Scenarios
Based on outcomes of Saturday games and Mountain West Conference agreements, one of the Rams' possible destinations is the New Mexico Bowl Dec. 20 in Albuquerque, N.M., but that decision still needs to be made by bowl officials.
After Utah’s win over BYU Saturday, the Utes (12-0) likely will represent the conference in a BCS game. Due to contractual obligations based on team records, the three other bowls with MWC affiliations – the Pioneer Las Vegas, San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia and the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces bowls – likely will select the other three MWC teams with records better than CSU (6-6): BYU (10-2), TCU (10-2) and Air Force (8-4).
That means that if CSU goes to a bowl, one possibility is Albuquerque.
Ticket information
In the event CSU is invited to the New Mexico Bowl, the best seats will be available through the Rams ticket office. Fans who provide information on the CSU bowl tickets site (see bottom of this page), will be contacted immediately as soon as the university has more information. Cost is expected to be only $30 per seat, an excellent value for postseason tickets, many of which will be on the 50-yard line.
Fans who aren’t able to make the game can still purchase tickets and give them to a worthy cause, while at the same time helping the CSU athletic department sell its committed allotment. Those purchases would be tax deductible, and would provide tickets to one of three groups: A charity designated by the bowl, families of servicemen and women in the military, or members of the Colorado State band.
And, with the holidays just around the corner, tickets to a bowl game are a great gift for families to give to their CSU students.
Ram Club members should order tickets by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, to ensure their priority seating.
If and when the Rams receive an official invitation, fans can purchase tickets:
- In person on CSURams.com (24 hours a day)
- At the McGraw Athletics Center ticket office (8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday), or
- By calling 1-800/491-RAMS.
Travel information
Albuquerque is only about a six-hour drive from Denver, and with gas at its lowest price in years, the New Mexico bowl offers CSU fans an easy trip. The Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau Web site offers fans excellent hotel information. More information also is available on the official New Mexico Bowl Web site.
