Game 1 | Game 2

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State softball team won both games in a doubleheader against UNLV Friday at Ram Field in dramatic fashion. The Rams (23-16, 3-5 MWC) won the first game 14-13 with a walk-off single by sophomore Kayla Kreutzman, and won the second game 7-6 with a walk-off home run by sophomore Robyn Mask.

In Game 1, sophomore Rebecca Penland put the Rams on the board in the bottom of the first after the Rebels jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Penland doubled to right field to plate freshman Caitlan Stem and sophomore Ashley Munoz to cut into the UNLV lead. Penland finished 2-for-4 in the game with another double in the fourth inning. In the fourth, she doubled to plate Munoz and sophomore Allison Majam.

Munoz finished the game 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs. She hit her fifth homer of the season in the third inning to jump start the Rams' offense and cut the Rebels' lead to 5-4.

The Rams added four more in the fourth inning on the double by Penland and a two-run home run by Stem, who finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

The Rams were down two runs going into the bottom of the seventh inning when senior Lauren Cusick started the rally, reaching on an error by the UNLV shortstop. Majam singled through the right side to score Cusick and cut the UNLV lead to one. Senior Julia Kloppe added another run for the Rams on her sacrifice fly to left field to score Majam and tie the game at 13. Kreutzman stepped up to the plate with two outs and runners at first and third and dropped a single into shallow left field to score sophomore Sarah Sullivan and secure the 14-13 victory for Colorado State.

Game 2 began much like the first game, with UNLV jumping out to an early lead.  The Rams trailed in the first three innings, 4-0, but Munoz hit her second homer of the day to cut the lead to 4-2. Penland added another run in the inning when she scored on an error by the shortstop.

The Rams added another run in the bottom of the fourth after Cusick doubled to center field with one out and scored on the single by Majam.

Cusick cut the Rebels lead to 6-5 in the sixth inning with a solo home run to center.  The homer, Cusick's 15th of the season, set a new single-season school record, surpassing the mark set by Munoz as a freshman last season.

With the Rams trailing by one, 6-5, and Kreutzman on first base, Mask came through with a one-out walk-off home run to left field to give the Rams the 7-6 victory.

The Rams hit five home runs and six doubles on the day. As a team, they batted .412 with a .721 slugging percentage.

Colorado State returns to Ram Field Saturday to face San Diego State at 3 p.m. MT. The Rams will conclude the series with SDSU Sunday at noon.
