FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State’s opponent at Saturday’s football game, the University of Houston, was hit hard by Hurricane Ike last weekend. CSU wants to use the contest as an opportunity to help.
As a gesture of goodwill, the CSU athletic department has partnered with the Centennial Chapter of the American Red Cross to help raise funds to support the national disaster relief fund for victims of the recent hurricanes.
ARC volunteers will be stationed at entry gates at the stadium Saturday for fans wishing to contribute cash donations to the relief efforts. Other donations, such as food or supplies, are not needed at this time.
FREE STUDENT TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE: Complimentary tickets to Saturday’s game are still available at both the McGraw Athletic Center box office and the Lory Student Center information desk. Full-time students with a valid university ID enrolled in at least 12 credit hours are able to receive one free ticket.
Parking in the general lot at Hughes Stadium also is free for students who present a university ID.
RAM WALK CONTINUES: Students and fans with families are encouraged to shake hands with CSU players and coaches, wishing them luck upon their arrival at Hughes Stadium Saturday.
The Ram Walk is a tradition started this year in which the team buses pull into Ram Town on the southeast corner of the stadium, and players walk to the locker room through a tunnel of cheerleaders as the band plays the fight song.
The team is expected to arrive in Ram Town at approximately 11:25 a.m.
HALFTIME CEREMONY: The CSU division of the Reserve Officers Training Corps will swear in seven new members as part of Saturday’s halftime program. Also, during a quarter break, CSU’s newly inducted Hall of Fame members will be recognized.
A WARM ONE: Good seats are still available for the game Saturday, when forecasters are predicting a high of 76 degrees. Houston features the nation’s second-ranked passing offense, trailing only Texas Tech. The Rams own the No. 3 kickoff-return unit in the country.
