SS Mike Pagnotta: As of late in the fourth quarter, Mike Pagnotta over a stretch covering CSU's last three games has had a hand in four takeaways. Today, he forced a second-quarter fumble from Shane Vereen, recovered by the Rams' Matt Rupp, ending a long Cal drive inside the CSU 10-yard line. Last week vs. Houston, he had a sack, interception and fumble recovery. And, he recovered a fumble that set up the game-winning field goal vs. Sacramento State (Sept. 6),
100-yard rushers: CSU's defense still has not allowed a 100-yard rusher this season. The Rams have gone five games now without allowing a single opponent over 100 yards.
Fumbles lost: CSU still had not lost a fumble. The Rams entered the game as one of seven teams in the country that haven't lost a fumble this season (also TCU, Florida, LSU, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, Tulane). Kory Sperry's second-quarter reception, in which the officials initially ruled a fumble recovered by Cal, was overturned by replay and given back to CSU.
Non-conference finales: CSU has not lost a non-conference finale since 2003, having won four straight entering today's game. Ben Roethlisberger (Miami, Ohio) was the last quarterback to beat CSU in such a game, Sept. 20, 2003, in Fort Collins.
