TEAM NOTES
First Division I start: In all, 15 CSU players have now made Division I starting debuts this season: Ivory Herd, Davis Burl, Tyson Liggett, Jake Gdowski, Paul Madsen, John Mosure, Leonard Mason, Nuku Latu, Zach Tiedgen, Guy Miller, Cory Macon, Alex Williams, Chris Gipson, DeAngelo Wilkinson and James Skelton.

Starters out: The Rams played today without four injured starters in their lineup: ST Mark Starr (head), DE Ty Whittier (neck), LB Alex Williams (knee) and S Klint Kubiak (shoulder).

First quarter: The Rams have now outscored their opponents in the first quarter, 58-24. Take away the BYU game (Sept. 26), when CSU uncharacteristically allowed 21 first-quarter points, and CSU has outscored foes 58-21 in the first stanza.

Mid-season all-conference: On Friday, Phil Steele announced his annual mid-season all-Mountain West selections. CSU's Adrian Martinez (G) and Mychal Sisson (LB) were first-team selections; Leonard Mason (RB), Dion Morton (WR and KR), Eric Peitz (TE), Tim Walter (C), Klint Kubiak (S) and Pete Kontodiakos (P) were second-team choices; and Rashaun Greer (WR) was the Rams' lone third-team selection.

23 straight: The Rams entered the game having scored a touchdown in 23 straight games, since a 27-3 loss vs. Utah, in Fort Collins, Oct. 27, 2007.

13 straight: The Rams entered the day having thrown for a TD pass in 13 consecutive games, and 21 of their last 22 contests, a streak that began Nov. 10, 2007, at New Mexico. The only instance over that 21-game stretch in which CSU did not throw a TD pass was vs. TCU, Oct. 11, 2008, a 13-7 loss.

  • CSU's 13-game streak entering the day was its longest since a 14-game stretch, Aug. 30, 2003, to Sept. 4, 2004.

Three losses: The opponents who have defeated CSU this year, entering the day, had a combined 14-3 record (.824). BYU, and Idaho were each 5-1. Utah was 4-1.

Interceptions: The Rams entered the game having intercepted a pass in seven consecutive contests, a stretch that began with Tommie Hill's game-changing play in the 2008 New Mexico Bowl. The streak is their longest stretch since they had INTs in seven straight, from Nov. 17, 2001, to Sept. 28, 2002. That streak included the 2001 New Orleans Bowl.

  • The seven-game streak was CSU's longest since what is believed to be the Rams' school record, a 15-game stretch from Oct. 16, 1993, to Nov. 12, 1994. That streak began after Fresno State's Trent Dilfer was 31-of-54 for 415 yards and three TDs, with no INTs, in a 34-32 CSU win on Oct. 9, 1993. The streak ended when Fresno State's Richie Donati was 29-of-41 for 356 yards and two TDs, with no INTs, in a 44-42 CSU win on Nov. 19, 1994.
  • CSU also had seven-game streaks in 1995 and '97, and from 2001-02.
  • The Rams already have more INTs than they had during all of 2008 (eight), 2007 (seven) and 2006 (seven).
Ball security: Entering this week, CSU was one of only three teams among 120 in the Football Bowl Subdivision to have not lost a fumble this season.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Ivory Herd: Made his first career start, in place of an injured Klint Kubiak.

Davis Burl: Made his first career start, when the Rams opened with Michael Kawulok at MLB, Mychal Sisson at WLB and Burl at SLB.

Ben DeLine: Hit a career-long 47-yard field goal to give the Rams a 6-0 lead in the first quarter.

Leonard Mason: Left with a rib injury with just under 7 minutes remaining in the first quarter and did not return.

Broderick Sargent: Spent the week back at linebacker to provide depth, after converting to tight end during the offseason. He played tight end in the fourth quarter.

Grant Stucker: Entered the week as one of just two players in the FBS to throw, catch and run for a TD this year, joining Nevada's Colin Kapernick.
