This week’s notable storylines…

  • In desperate need of a win, the Rams now must win not only Saturday, but their final three games to qualify for bowl eligibility.
  • With their backs against the wall in a similar situation last season, CSU answered the bell, and won its final two to reach six regular-season wins en route to a New Mexico Bowl triumph over Fresno State.
  • The winner of Saturday’s clash will eliminate its opponent from the postseason.
  • CSU looks to break out of its longest stretch without a win (six) since the first six games of the 2007 campaign. That year, the Rams ended the skid with a victory in Las Vegas over the Rebels.
  • The Rams (6-0-1) have never lost in Las Vegas. After a 21-21 tie in the teams’ first Vegas meeting, in 1979, CSU reeled off six consecutive wins, in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007.
  • All-time in the city, CSU is 7-0-1, including a 41-13 victory over a ranked New Mexico team in the 1997 WAC championship game.
  • Overall against the Rebels, the Rams are 12-4-1 (.727), having won six consecutive meetings, and 12 of the past 13. All told, the only programs against whom CSU has enjoyed more success in 17 or more encounters are UTEP (.735, 24-9-0) and Northern Colorado (.971, 16-0-1).
  • On Nov. 1 and later, the Rams have won five of their last seven, and three in a row.
  • Senior WR Rashaun Greer (Mojave High School), will make his first start in his hometown as a college player.
