- CSU, reeling on an eight-game losing streak, looks to end the season on a positive note. The Rams do not want to leave the streak for next year’s team, so Friday is very important.
- The Rams, with their first win since Sept. 19 over a Nevada team receiving votes in the polls, would have solid bookend wins to finish 2009, including a 23-17 triumph over CU in Boulder Sept. 6.
- With a win, the Rams would have victories in the same year over their closest rivals — CU and Wyoming — for the first time since 2002. CSU also pulled off that feat in 1999 and 2000.
- CSU, in the same position as Wyoming one year ago, can keep the Cowboys from gaining bowl eligibility on its home field in the senior day regular-season finale. The Rams’ win to close 2008 and vault them into the New Mexico Bowl, was CSU’s last conference win.
- Friday marks the final college game for 15 CSU seniors, who will be honored in a pregame ceremony.
- Including the starts lost by Davis Burl and Cory Macon Saturday at UNM, key contributors have now combined to miss 38 starts, and 32 games. Plus, 27 of those starts, and 22 overall games, are on the defensive side of the ball. In the first half Saturday, QB Grant Stucker left with a chest injury, and T Cole Pemberton departed after aggravating his sprained ankle.
- CSU can win a third straight over Wyoming, something the Rams haven’t done since a four-game streak from 1999-2002.
