FORT COLLINS, Colo.- With fall camp nearing a close, and the CU opener just around the corner, the Rams are putting together a string of productive practices.
Head Coach Steve Fairchild said that this week has produced solid results and the most consistent position has been the offensive line. Colorado State’s offensive line is the most experienced in the country with 125 combined starts.
Friday morning’s practice did not have a short scrimmage or live periods but it did have a seven-on-seven drill. During this time Grant Stucker consistently threw the ball well, hitting numerous receivers for touchdowns.
Big plays: During seven-on-seven Stucker completed five passes in a row, three of which were into double coverage. Stucker found Rashaun Greer twice, Tyson Liggett, Ryan Gardner, and Eric Peitz before Gerard Thomas was able to break up a pass.
Liggett also made a juggling catch down the sideline later in the drill.
Linebacker James Skelton made a great defensive play to break up a Stucker pass deep in the secondary.
Eastman: Jon Eastman missed practice with a finger injury on his non-throwing hand. Fairchild said he should be able to go as early as Saturday.
“We anticipate that by Tuesday he’ll be back in the mix,” Fairchild said.
Saturday: On Saturday the Rams will be back at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium for a closed scrimmage. The scrimmage will include mostly situations, but also some move-the-ball periods. There will be live tackling except for quarterbacks, who during practice normally are not off limits to hits.
