This week’s notable storylines…
- CSU begins the second half of its campaign hoping to turn around its season.
- Former CU assistant Bobby Hauck returns to Colorado at the helm of the Rebels.
- The Rams are featuring Debut Week, leading up to Homecoming by launching a new Web site (Tuesday), introducing a new CAM the Ram (Wednesday) and a $1 million Moby Arena videoboard (Thursday).
- In series games played in Fort Collins, CSU has won three straight and six of the last seven, since Randall Cunningham came into Hughes Stadium and defeated the Rams, 36-31, in 1982.
- The teams appear to be evenly matched across the board. Each club has the same record, and of the combined 10 losses by the Rams and Rebels, seven were to teams ranked in this week’s polls (six teams: Wisconsin, Utah, Nevada, West Virginia, TCU and Air Force).
- For their annual Homecoming and Family Weekend contest, the Rams should have one of their largest home crowds of the season. The game is the centerpiece of a week’s worth of festivities.
- CSU’s last three Homecoming games have been heart-crushing losses, near-victories against “Big 3” opponents Utah in 2009 and TCU in 2008, and an improbable comeback by San Diego State in 2007. The last time the Rams won on Homecoming was 2006, against UNLV.
- The Rams play the only unranked team on their schedule over a four-week span (No. 5 TCU, No. 25 Air Force, No. 10 Utah).
