COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Colorado State outside hitter Danielle Minch was named Mountain West Conference Player of the Week, marking the first weekly honor of the season and second of her career.
Minch, a 6-3 senior from Sterling, Colo., led the Rams to MWC wins last week over TCU and New Mexico at Moby Arena. Minch, returning from an ankle injury, recorded a season-high 20 kills and had five blocks against the Horned Frogs on Thursday night in the 3-2 victory. The last kill of the match was the 1,000th of her career as a Ram. Minch followed up with a team-high 10-kill, .375 hitting performance against New Mexico on Saturday.
For the week, Minch averaged 3.75 kills, 0.75 blocks and 4.25 points per set, while hitting .288 (30-13-59) over eight sets. She also had two digs.
Minch’s honor is the second of the season for a CSU player after sophomore middle blocker Megan Plourde earned Co-Player of the Week honors on Sept. 27.
