CSU's Miller selected first-team midseason all-MWC

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State had eight players selected to Phil Steele's 2010 Midseason All-MWC team announced by the national college football analyst on Tuesday.
Guy Miller is the only Ram to take first-team honors. The 6-foot-3, 302-pound defensive tackle from Scott City, Kan., has accumulated 23 tackles, 8½ of which are tackles for loss, and 6½ sacks over a span of seven games.
Last week Miller garnered the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week after a 4½-sack performance against UNLV. The 4½ sacks set a Colorado State school record, surpassing 1995 WAC Defensive Player of the Year Brady Smith and Mike Bell, the No. 2 overall selection in the 1979 NFL Draft.
Steele also selected another pair of Rams from the defensive side of the ball on his midseason all-MWC team, DE Broderick Sargent and WLB Ricky Brewer.
Sargent, a 6-foot-2, 228-pound defensive end has been in the backfield almost as consistently as Miller. Sargent has racked up 24 total tackles, six of which have been for loss. This is his first season on scholarship after being awarded the Keli S. McGregor Memorial Scholarship. Sargent has started in all seven games for the Rams in the 2010 campaign.
Brewer, a 6-foot-2, 212-pound Mullen High School product, had a strong first half of the season, leading the Rams in tackling with 57. Brewer is tied for fourth on the team with 4½ tackles for loss. Brewer is one of five permanent team captains, and has demonstrated his leadership on and off the field. Brewer has started seven straight games, and has led the team in tackles in three games.
Also receiving recognition on Steele's third-team midseason all-conference list are QB Pete Thomas, SLB Mychal Sisson, P Pete Kontodiakos, PR Momo Thomas and KR Derek Good.
