SALT LAKE CITY - Jordan Wynn threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns as No. 9 Utah (7-0) remained unbeaten with a 59-6 win over Colorado State (2-6) on Saturday.

This is the third game of the season where the Rams were held without a touchdown. However, there were noticeable positives from the game.

Freshman running back Chris Nwoke, who made his first career start, was the Rams' most productive player, leading the team in rushing and receiving. Nwoke had 48 yards on the ground on 15 attempts, and eight catches for 49 yards. His eight catches are the most by a CSU player this season.

"At times he was electric," Head Coach Steve Fairchild said. "He did some very nice things for us and you can see what he's capable of doing."

Junior Derek Good, who entered the game as the No. 1 kick returner in the nation, was kept in check, only averaging 17.7 yards a return. However he made his presence felt on the punt coverage team. Utah senior Shaky Smithson muffed a punt during the second quarter and the fumble was recovered by Good. The fumble recovery led to a 27-yard field goal from Ben DeLine.

The momentum changed for good when Utah recovered a surprise onsides kick in the second quarter. After the onsides kick, the Utes never looked back scoring 42 unanswered points.

The defense, which was led by the strong performance from Ricky Brewer, who had 14 tackles, had a tough time wrapping up the Utah running backs, as they scored four touchdowns on the ground. Utah racked up 222 yards, and had touchdown runs of 72 and 36 yards.

The 72-yard rushing touchdown from Sausan Shakerin wasn't the only Utes play of over 70 yards. Just before halftime Jordan Wynn connected on a 71-yard strike to DeVonte Christopher, giving Utah a 24-6 lead.

CSU quarterback Pete Thomas completed 67 percent (19-for-28) of his passes for 185 yards.

The Rams will head home and prepare for next Saturday's game against New Mexico. The game will be televised on The Mtn. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. MT. Last year when these teams met in Albuquerque, the Rams lost 29-27 on a 27-yard field goal with 12 seconds left in the game.
