FORT COLLINS, Colo. – It’s been a long journey for players on the No. 15 CSU volleyball team to get to where they are right now, in both their academic and athletic careers. Each player can remember the dreams that she had when she was younger, the hard work she put in, and the role models she had.
This is why the team is taking the time to visit six elementary schools located throughout Fort Collins, Wellington, and Timnath. Players will have the opportunity to get to know the young students, and in turn help to act as positive role models for the children.
Some of the Rams visited Taut Core Knowledge School and Johnson Elementary of Fort Collins Monday, while others will visit Bacon Elementary and Laurel Elementary of Fort Collins on Tuesday, along with Bethke Elementary of Timnath and Eyestone Elementary of Wellington. The Rams will speak to the classes, partake in assemblies, attend student council meetings, and even participate in P.E. classes with the children.
The Rams have already clinched the 2010 Mountain West Conference, as New Mexico was upset by BYU this past weekend. The team will finish up its conference schedule this week at Moby Arena, hosting Utah (Wednesday) and BYU (Friday) for the final time as Mountain West Conference rivals. This week has been designated Fan Appreciation Week at Moby Arena. CSU will also honor the careers of four players – Jacque Davisson, Audrey Hemmings, Emily Koenning and Danielle Minch - with a special Senior Day ceremony prior to the start of the BYU match.
