FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Ever wonder what football coaches discuss on their headsets while roaming the sidelines?

Head Coach Steve Fairchild, his coaches and their wives will answer that question and any other that has ever piqued the curiosity of female fans, at CSU's first annual Football 101 for Women. The event takes place April 8 inside the Rams' new athletic facilities. Registration and social hour begins at 5 p.m. and the clinic kicks off at 6.

"I'm married and I have two daughters," Fairchild said. "These awesome three ladies have been by my side almost as long as I've been involved with football, and I never take their support for granted. We enjoy football as a family and we thought this might be a good way to help other families enjoy it, too.

"It's America's most popular spectator sport, and we want to help it become for wives, girlfriends, sisters and daughters more than noise on a TV screen, or just something their men do that takes them away. If our coaches and their wives can meet some nice ladies and help them better understand this great game, our hope is that those ladies will enjoy it more."

Carrabba's Italian Grill is providing a delectable meal, and High Country Beverage is teaming up with E&J Gallo Winery and Pepsi to provide an array of beverages, with and without alcohol. In addition, Russell Athletic will supply a special-edition T-shirt as a souvenir for each participant.

All of that is included in the price of admission, $20 for Ram Club members and $30 for non-Ram Club members. All profits will be donated to a worthy cause, the Athletic General Scholarship Fund, to provide tuition for deserving student-athletes and help the Rams recruit and field the nation's top talent.

Macradee Aegerter, who hosts the Rams Sports Magazine Show on NoCo 5 and The Mtn. every week, will emcee the clinic-opening program and join all the other women in attendance going through the clinic, expected to last until 8 p.m.

Each coach will be available at stations inside the Rams' spectacular new $13 million Indoor Practice Facility. Members of the CSU equipment and training staffs also will be on hand to show female fans what they do to keep the Rams performing at the highest level. The clinic will have a relaxed and fun atmosphere and includes a tour of the CSU athletic facilities.
