FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State's Mychal Sisson has earned first-team preseason all-conference accolades from Phil Steele, the national college football analyst announced recently.

Sisson leads a cast of 10 Rams chosen as preseason all-MWC selections by Steele's 2010 College Football Preview, one of the nation's top preseason football magazines.

A 5-foot-11, 209-pound junior from Duncanville, Texas, Sisson is not only the Rams' leading tackler each of the past two seasons, he's also a leader in general, evident throughout 2010 spring practices by his play on the field and his voice on the sidelines.

Last season the weakside linebacker garnered second-team all-conference honors, leading CSU with 91 tackles for a second straight year. His 15½ tackles for loss in 2009 were the most by a CSU player since future Super Bowl champions Clark Haggans (17) and Joey Porter (16) in 1997. Sisson's team-leading six sacks were also the most by a Rams defender since Bryan Save had seven in 2003.

Steele also selected a pair of Rams on his second-team preseason all-conference squad, DT Guy Miller and TE Eric Peitz.

Miller, a 6-foot-3, 297-pound senior from Scott City, Kan., started all 12 games at nose guard in 2009, finishing with 39 tackles (18 solo). He had 6½ tackles for loss (second on the team), two sacks, one pass batted down, one forced fumble and one game-saving fumble recovery.

Peitz, a 6-foot-5, 255-pound senior from Crofton, Neb., started the first nine 2009 games until sustaining a season-ending shoulder injury. He finished with 14 receptions for 114 yards (8.1 avg.) and three TDs, ending the year on an eight-game reception streak.

In addition, junior RB Raymond Carter (third team), junior S Elijah-Blu Smith (third team), senior RB Leonard Mason (fourth team), senior OT Mark Starr (fourth team), senior DE Cory Macon (fourth team), senior LB Ricky Brewer (fourth team) and senior LB Alex Williams (fourth team) also received recognition.
