FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Wednesday afternoon was the hottest practice of the fall, but luckily for the Rams they weren’t in full pads.

Since they were just in shorts and shoulder pads CSU couldn’t go “live” but the Rams still had a few “thud” periods. The “thud” periods were more lively than usual as Head Coach Steve Fairchild had the sidelines yelling to simulate crowd noise. It was these periods that produced the practices highlights.

Junior wide receiver Matt Yemm caught his second touchdown of the day when he hauled in a strike at the back corner of the end zone from newly named starting quarterback Pete Thomas.
The other offensive highlight came when Marquise Law used his size and jumping ability to catch a touchdown.

The defense had a “quieter” practice than normal. There were no interceptions but numerous players made athletic plays to break up passes, most notably Shaq Bell, who dove and deflected a certain touchdown.

The Rams will be back on the intramural fields Thursday morning at 7:45.

Ram Club Scrimmage: Saturday the Rams will be at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium as they have their second major scrimmage of the fall campaign. The scrimmage will be closed to the general public but open to Ram Club members. Fans who want to become a member of the Ram Club are encouraged to come out to the stadium Saturday as CSU will have representatives there to help in signing up.

The winners of the scrimmage are rewarded with T-shirts. These T-shirts represent bragging rights and are a constant reminder to the losing unit what happened on that day.

Leadership: Thomas has begun to mature and turn into a leader on and off the field. Wednesday afternoon after a bad pass intended for T.J. Borcky, Thomas ran over to talk to Borcky about where he wants the ball in certain situations. Also in recent days, Thomas has been high-fiving the offensive line after every team period.
