FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State Head Coach Steve Fairchild issued the following statement regarding linebackers coach Scott Brown, who is leaving to become the defensive line coach at Arizona State after coaching the past three seasons for the Rams.

“This is a positive for Scott. He’s an outstanding football coach and first-class in every sense. That’s why we brought him to Fort Collins as one of our first hires. Anytime you’re an outstanding football coach, you’re going to get other opportunities. Things like this happen; it’s just part of our profession. Marc Lubick joined the Houston Texans last year at this time.

“Scott interviewed last week, so I knew then we could lose him. We’ve already started moving forward. Colorado State is a very attractive job, and I anticipate an incredible amount of interest.

“We’ll move forward at our pace, to be sure we find the right fit for our players and staff, and put us in the best position to get our team back in a bowl game in 2011. Our goal is to have someone in place well before we begin spring ball in late March.”
