LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Colorado State volleyball team fell a spot in this week’s AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll, but remains in the top 10 after a pair of road wins over the weekend.
For the first time this season, the No. 10 Rams dropped in the poll. The previous 10 polls, CSU had either climbed or remained steady. CSU received nine more total points than last week, but the Rams were passed by Minnesota, which beat then-No. 16 Purdue on Friday.
Overall, CSU has been ranked more frequently than all but 14 teams in NCAA history, and has earned a spot in the top 10 a total of 60 times, a number that ranks 19th among all programs.
All-time, CSU is 420-125 as a ranked team, including 115-23 while in the top 10. For a complete list of each top-10 ranking, click here.
The Rams began the season receiving 15 points in the preseason poll, good for 38th. CSU cracked the top 25 for the first time on Sept. 16. CSU is one of two undefeated teams in the nation, joining Missouri.
Rams move up in RPI: While falling a spot in the top-25 poll, CSU climbed one spot, to No. 20, in the RPI (ratings percentage index). The RPI, which Head Coach Tom Hilbert says is a large factor in NCAA tournament hosting, is based off of three categories: a team's winning percentage (25 percent), its opponents' winning percentage (50 percent) and the winning percentage of its opponents' opponents (25 percent).
CSU travels to Wyoming, hosts Nevada this week: The Rams travel to Laramie, Wyo., on Tuesday to face Border War rival Wyoming (7 p.m.), followed by a home contest Saturday vs. Nevada (7:30 p.m.). A pair of victories would tie for CSU’s longest-ever win streak (23).
Tickets for Saturday’s match can be purchased online, over the phone at 1-800-491-RAMS or at the McGraw Athletic Center ticket office. Both matches will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.
