CSU cross country takes care of business in the classroom

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – In the fall, Colorado State’s cross country team excelled against its competition, as well as in the classroom.
Under the direction of second-year Head Coach Art Siemers, the men’s cross country team raced up the national rankings to as high as No. 15 nationally. Entering the NCAA championship ranked for the fifth consecutive week at No. 27, the men finished one place ahead of their seed at No. 26, providing CSU with its best finish since 2003.
Junior Andrew Goodman received a 4.0 GPA in the fall semester, and also was honored with second-team All-Mountain West honors. In total, five men earned all-conference accolades, the most for CSU in league history.
In the classroom, the men’s cross country team earned a cumulative GPA of 3.454 in the fall, while the women’s team earned a cumulative GPA of 3.445.
Not to be overshadowed by the men’s success, the women placed third out of 11 teams in the Mountain West. At regionals, the women placed 10th in the very tough Mountain region.
