• Saturday’s announced attendance was 32,546.
• According to CSU Athletics legend Gary Ozzello, today marks only the second advanced sellout in Colorado State history. The first advanced sellout came in anticipation of CSU’s Sept. 14, 2002 contest vs. Louisville (31,607).
o Saturday is the first sellout since the Rams hosted Wyoming on Oct. 22, 2004 (30,108). At that time, Hughes Stadium’s capacity was 30,000.
o Last time the Rams played in front of at least 30,000 fans at home was Oct. 15, 2011 vs. Boise State (30,027).
o Tonight was the largest crowd at Hughes Stadium since 2006 vs. UNLV (. In that game
• Senior quarterback Garrett Grayson was 20-of-31 for 243 yards. He became Colorado State’s all-time leading passer with 7,250 passing yards. The record was previously held by Kelly Stouffer (7,142; 1984-86).
o Grayson now has five career fourth-quarter comebacks, which ties for the fourth-most among active FBS quarterbacks.
• Sophomore wide receiver Rashard Higgins caught 10 passes for 187 yards. This is Higgins’ third-consecutive game with at least 175 receiving yards. The last FBS pass-catcher to accomplish this feat was Michael Crabtree (Texas Tech) in 2007.
o Higgins now has five games this season with at least 100 receiving yards, which ties as the second-most in a single season by a CSU pass-catcher. He now has seven games with at least 100 receiving yards.
• Higgins now has 963 receiving yards, which is the ninth-most in a single season by a CSU pass-catcher. David Anderson holds the record with 1,293 receiving yards in 2003.
o This is the most receiving yards in a single season since Rashaun Greer (1,114 yards) in 2008.
• In his 21-game career, Higgins has 1,758 receiving yards, which is just 90 yards short of cracking the top-10 all-time CSU receiving list.
• Colorado State’s opening play, a 69-yard pitch-and-catch from Grayson to Higgins, ties as the Rams’ second-longest play of the year. Grayson connected on a 69-yard pass to Elroy Masters Jr., against UC Davis (9/13).
o This was the longest play to open a game by CSU since Thomas Coffman hauled in a 75-yard touchdown to open the 2012 contest at Wyoming.
• The Rams are bowl-eligible in the fewest amount of games (7) since 2000, when CSU also became bowl-eligible after the first seven games.
• CSU’s five-game winning streak is its longest in a single season since 2002, when the Rams rattled off six consecutive victories.
o The Rams have now won five consecutive games at Hughes Stadium and 10 of their last 12, dating back to the 2012 season.
• Colorado State has now won 12 of its last 15 games.
• Utah State’s running back Joe Hill busted off a 59-yard touchdown run, but the CSU defense contained him to just five yards on his other eight carries, including his five carries in the second half that registered for a net of zero yards.
• Senior linebacker Max Morgan recorded his third career interception when he picked off a Darell Garretson pass in the second quarter. Morgan has one interception in each of the last three seasons.
• Senior wide receiver Charles Lovett now has a catch in 28 consecutive games in which he has played. Lovett’s last game without a catch was Nov. 19, 2011 at TCU.
o In the second quarter, Lovett threw his first career incompletion. He entered the game as 2-for-2 for 43 yards and two touchdowns in his career.
• In CSU’s 2013 contest at Utah State, the Rams didn’t cross midfield until their third-play of the second quarter. On that drive, CSU marched down to the Aggies 7-yard line, but ultimately missed a 24-yard field goal.
• Late in the first quarter, tight end Jordan White hauled in his first career reception, a nine-yard gain.
• This is the first time under third-year Head Coach Jim McElwain that the Rams are tied at halftime. The last time CSU was tied at half was on Oct. 10, 2009 vs. Utah. The two teams ended the first half tied at 3.
• Today’s captains were WR Joe Hansley, DL LaRyan King, DB Trent Matthews and OL Mason Myers.
