HEISMAN TROPHY ASPIRANT

Colorado State senior quarterback Garrett Grayson continues to garner significant national attention for his performance and the success of his No. 23-ranked Rams team.

This week the Mountain West’s leading passer, who ranks in the top five in the nation in several significant passing categories, was notified in writing by The Heisman Trophy Trust that he is considered a “legitimate contender for The Heisman Memorial Trophy.”

While The Heisman Trophy Trust does not specifically endorse any college football player for the Heisman Memorial Trophy, the correspondence received by Grayson and Colorado State Athletics allows for his inclusion among the “aspirants” pages on the Heisman.com website. The pages are maintained by each school’s athletics staff.

Grayson has led the 9-1 Rams to wins in eight consecutive games and 15 of their last 18 dating back to last season. He ranks third among all FBS quarterbacks in passing efficiency (171.6), is tied for fifth in passing touchdowns (26) and ranks sixth in passing yards (3,024). Holder of 12 Colorado State records, Grayson has become the school’s all-time leader this season in passing yards (8,208), completions (622), completion percentage (63.7%) and touchdown passes (58).

Colorado State has its second bye of the season this week before resuming action on Saturday, Nov. 22 at home against New Mexico. The Senior Day clash with the Lobos will kick off at 11:30 a.m. Tickets can be purchased online, by phone (800-491-RAMS) or in person either at the McGraw Center Ticket Office or the Ram Zone retail outlet in Old Town Fort Collins.

Player information for each Heisman aspirant is provided by and at the discretion of the individual Colleges/Universities. The aspirant pages are provided only as a platform of information for fans and media, and may not contain a definitive and comprehensive list of possible finalists. Finalists are determined by a point system at the conclusion of the annual balloting process in December. All collegiate football players in compliance with NCAA bylaws / rules are eligible to win the Heisman Memorial Trophy.

The 2014 Heisman Finalists will be announced on Monday, December 8, 2014 via a live announcement on ESPN tentatively scheduled for 6:00PM EST.
