FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Rain, thunder and lightning forced Colorado State inside to its indoor practice facility on Tuesday afternoon.
The Rams completed their second fall practice, the first as an entire team, in just under two hours. Practice featured several new numbers and one player switching to the other side of the ball.
Redshirt junior George Maumau, a native of Denver, Colo., moved from defensive line to H-back. The Rams will use Maumau’s 255-pound frame to block for quarterback Garrett Grayson and open holes for the running backs.
Running back Treyous Jarrells will wear No. 3 during the season, while tight end Christian Montes has changed to No. 80.
After practice, Head Coach Jim McElwain praised the defense for its fast start, something the team has admitted it needs to do a better job of.
After Tuesday’s condensed practice, the Rams had one hour to shower and change for the team photo, which was taken inside the indoor practice facility.
McElwain hopes to return to the practice facility south of Moby Arena for Wednesday’s afternoon practice starting at 4 p.m. MT.

#TheClimb: Fans that are active on social media will notice players and coaches using the hashtag #TheClimb. This is the affirmation of the 2014 Colorado State football program. Each trophy game the Rams play represents a step up the mountain, with the first stop being at the Rocky Mountain Showdown. On Aug. 29, the Rams will battle in-state rival Colorado for the Centennial Cup.

Last year, the team chose #1TTD, which represented One Town, One Team, One Dream. The Rams have carried over that to the 2014 season as well.
Media day: On Tuesday morning, Colorado State hosted its annual Football Media Day, allowing local print and TV media to speak to members of the coaching staff and numerous players. Fans that missed the live stream can check out a few quotes from each player here. An archive of the video should be uploaded to YouTube this evening.
Walk-ons: Alabama graduate and running back Dee Hart wasn’t the only new addition to CSU’s 105-player roster for Fall Camp. McElwain added walk-on defensive back Zak Crawford (Ventura (Calif.) High School), punter Ricky Buckner (Dr. Phillips High School) and defensive end Jose Cerriteno (Feather River College).
