FORT COLLINS, Colo. – On Saturday morning Colorado State head football coach Mike Bobo announced the addition of Bryan Applewhite to his inaugural staff. Applewhite’s position has not yet been specified, but will be on the offensive side of the ball.

“We are fortunate to be able to bring Bryan Applewhite and his family to Colorado State,” Bobo said. “He is familiar with this area and the conference, and he is a great recruiter. I’m really excited about what he brings to our staff.”

Applewhite comes to Fort Collins after spending the last five seasons at the University of Louisiana Monroe as the Warhawks running backs coach and recruiting coordinator. During his time at ULM, Applewhite groomed two all-conference running backs, including Frank Goodin who was arguably one of the top running backs in Warhawks history.

In 2009, under Applewhite, Goodin rushed for 1,126 rushing yards, the fifth-best single-season performance in school history, and 13 rushing touchdowns, which is second-best.

Prior to joining ULM’s staff, Applewhite spent one season at Montana State and six at Wyoming as running backs coach. Under his tutelage, Applewhite groomed two of Wyoming’s three all-time leading rushers in Devin Moore (2,963) and Wynel Seldon (2,672). Both rushers went on to sign free agent NFL contracts. Moore’s 2,963 career rushing yards is the most all-time by a Cowboys player. Seldon holds the school record for most rushing attempts in a career with 636.

Applewhite got his first coaching job at his alma matter, Northern Colorado, in 1999. At UNC, he was a standout fullback that helped the Bears win back-to-back NCAA Division II National Championships. Applewhite was coached by current CSU assistant coach Marty English at UNC.

He and his wife, Rachelle, have two daughters, Morgan and Skylar.
