Bobo announces first signing class

FULL RELEASE & BIOS | SIGNING DAY CENTRAL

FIRST & LAST: This morning, the first fax came in at 6:10 a.m. MT from O'Shea Jackson, a defensive tackle from Martin High School Arlington, Texas. Last year the first to submit their National Letter of Intent was athlete Deionte Gaines (6:18 a.m.). The last to submit their NLI was Glendale Community College product Deshon Mayes. Mayes' fax came through at 8:40 a.m. The Rams received all faxes that they were expecting.


EARLY START: Incoming freshman Colby Meeks and sophomore transfer Mitch Parsons enrolled at Colorado State for the 2015 spring semester.

Meeks comes to Fort Collins after playing three varsity seasons at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Fla. Meeks, an Associated Press All-Florida selection, compiled a 38-3 record with the Panthers.

Parsons spent his freshman year at Vanderbilt. Coming out of Chaparral High School in Parker, Colo., Parsons was the No. 2 overall player in Colorado and the No. 7 tight end nationally.

WINNING PERCENTAGE: The 13 signees compiled a high school record of 254-107 (.704). It is broken down by class below...

CAPTAINS: Overall, eight of CSU's 13 signees in this year's class were selected to be captians for their respective teams. Olabisi Johnson, Isaiah Matthews, Max McDonald, Justin Nunez and JC Robles were all two-time captains. Additionally, Mitch Parsons was captain of the Chaparral basketball team and Robles was captain of El Diamante's track and field and basketball squads.

TEAMMATES: Several times the Rams have signed players from schools in the same city, but this year Bobo and his staff brought in a set of teammates from Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins. Offensive lineman Salofi Gaoa and linebacker Max McDonald will continue their football careers together at Colorado State.

The last time Colorado State signed a pair of teammates in the same class was in 2014 when former coach Jim McElwain signed wide receiver Jyaz Jones and Silvester Hayes from South Oak Cliff in Dallas, Texas, and wide receiver Trey Smith and kicker Wyatt Bryan from Douglas County High School in Castle Rock, Colo.
