FORT COLLINS, Colo.--Colorado State head football coach Mike Bobo announced Friday the hire of Geoff Martzen as the Rams' director of player personnel. Martzen spent the past two seasons at BYU.
Martzen will play a key role in CSU's overall recruiting efforts, coordinating several aspects of the Rams' year-round student-athlete recruitment process. He will serve as a link between the coaching and support staff to develop student-athletes on and off the field, including strength and condition coaches and academic coordinators. Additionally, Martzen will serve as the liaison between CSU and NFL scouts for pro-day events, and assist with camps, clinics and other football-related activities.
"Geoff has worked with some of the best programs in the country, so we are very excited to have him at Colorado State," Bobo said. "He brings a wealth of knowledge in recruiting and organizational skills."
Martzen comes to CSU from BYU, where he was a player personnel and on-campus recruiting coordinator. Some of his key responsibilities were to identify prospects, plan on-campus recruiting events, stay up-to-date with recruits via social media and provide recruiting aids for coaches.
Before joining the Cougars' staff, Martzen assisted in coordinating the recruitment of high school and junior college recruits at Boise State in 2013 and Alabama in 2012.
Martzen earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Fresno State, and started working towards a master's degree at Alabama and Boise State.
