Colorado State practiced for the fifth time this spring on Saturday afternoon, but for the first time without wide receiver Rashard Higgins and safety Kevin Pierre-Louis. Head coach Mike Bobo said after practice that the two were out with hamstring injuries and are considered day-to-day.

"There was a little tweak of the hamstring and it's just going to be day-to-day. They'll be getting treatment and get back as soon as possible."

Saturday's practice was capped with a 25-minute live period that Bobo called a "half scrimmage."

"We wanted to see the guys hit and tackle a little bit better, and the defense did an outstanding job answering from Thursday's practice, and coming out here with a little intensity and pride," Bobo said. "We still have a long way to go on both sides of the ball, but we're pleased with the effort defensively today."

Bobo broke down the live session a little further.

"I thought they did a nice job. They played with some enthusiasm, played hard and ran to the ball. We're still not where we want to be. We went through a whole practice and then basically put the ball down for a 25-minute scrimmage at the end of practice. They were a little bit gassed, but we wanted to put them in the fourth quarter and see who would respond. I thought the defense responded better than the offense today."

The Rams will return to practice on Tuesday afternoon for their sixth of 15 allotted practices.
