FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Colorado State's Garrett Grayson became the first Rams quarterback to be selected in the NFL draft since 2004 (Bradlee Van Pelt), as he was chosen by the New Orleans Saints in the third round with the 75th overall pick. Grayson is the highest-drafted quarterback by the Saints since Archie Manning in 1971.

Grayson, who was at home in Vancouver, Wash., with friends and family for the big moment, captured every career record in Colorado State history in 2014, and broke his own single-season records for passing yards (4,006) and passing touchdowns (32). Grayson is only the third Mountain West quarterback to throw for over 4,000 passing yards in a single season.

After his senior campaign, Grayson was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year.

Grayson is the second-highest drafted CSU quarterback and the seventh to be drafted into the NFL joining: Van Pelt (Denver Broncos -- round 7; 2004), Moses Moreno (Bears -- round 7; 1998), Kelly Stouffer (St. Louis Cardinals -- round 1; 1987), Terry Nugent (Cleveland Browns -- round 6; 1984), Mark Driscoll (Dallas Cowboys -- round 13; 1976) and Jack Graham (Miami Dolphins -- round 14; 1975)

Grayson is CSU's lone active quarterback in the NFL.

The Rams have multiple NFL draft selections in back-to-back years (Weston Richburg and Crockett Gillmore in 2014 and Sambrailo and Grayson in 2015) for the first time since 2000-01.
