Football begins first camp under Mike Bobo

The Colorado State football team officially begins preseason preparation for the 2015 season on Friday, with the initial camp practice under first-year head coach Mike Bobo. All players and coaches reported for meetings on Thursday, and will take their training to the field for the first time just after 3 p.m. today.
Practices are not open to the public, but CSURams.com will have daily practice reports, photo galleries and more, and fans can follow the CSU Football accounts on Twitter and Instagram for daily updates.
The team will practice 19 times in camp before classes begin on Monday, Aug. 24, and will have one more week of preparation before the first game-week commences the following Monday. The season opener is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m. vs. Savannah State at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium.

The team will hold its 2015 Media Day on Monday, Aug. 10 beginning at 11:45 a.m., and fans may watch the press conferences live on CSURams.com/videos. Coach Bobo, offensive coordinator Will Friend, defensive coordinator Tyson Summers and select players will take part in the press conference.
The Rams enter 2015 with 15 starters returning on offense and defense, and six players named to 10 different “watch lists”—third-most in the Mountain West—including 2014 consensus All-America wide receiver Rashard Higgins. The junior, who caught 96 passes for an FBS-best 1,750 yards and 17 touchdowns a year ago, is on the watch list for the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Player of the Year Award and the Biletnikoff Award, as well as earning Mountain West Preseason Offensive Player of the Year honors.
A promotional website has been created to highlight Higgins’ candidacy for major national awards, at www.HollywoodHiggins.com. The site provides news, statistics, information and videos about the 2014 Biletnikoff Award finalist. Fans can also help promote Higgins’ candidacy on social media by using the hashtag #HollywoodHiggins.
Defensively, senior safety Trent Matthews has earned consideration for both his on and off-field achievements. The three-year returning starter is on the watch list for the Thorpe Award, AFCA Good Works Team and the Wuerffel Trophy.
