Game Notes: Week 1 vs. Savannah State

A CSU win would...

  • Be the first of Mike Bobo's head coaching career. Bobo previously spent 14 seasons at Georgia, his alma mater, including eight as offensive coordinator.
  • Be the school's 500th all-time victory. CSU's first win came on Jan. 28, 1893.
  • Extend the Rams' home win streak to nine consecutive games dating back to the 2012 season, a school record.
  • Be CSU's first win over Savannah State. The Rams and Tigers have never met on the football field.
  • Mark the 60th time CSU has begun a season with a win, and the fourth time in the past five seasons.
  • Mark CSU's 41st victory over an FCS opponent. All-time, CSU is 40-9-1, recently beating Cal Poly (2013) and UC Davis (2014).
  • Improve CSU's record to 6-0 in Orange Out games, which began in 2010.

Ag Day
Now in its 34th year, Ag Day is one of the finest traditions in the region and celebrates Colorado's agriculture history. On average, 3,500 people attend annually and enjoy live music, entertainment and delicious Colorado-grown food prior to kickoff. All proceeds support more than a dozen scholarships for CSU students studying agricultural sciences. The event, which was started by Thurman "Fum" McGraw in 1981, celebrates CSU's agriculture heritage, as the University's athletics teams were originally known as the Colorado A&M Aggies. More information on Ag Day can be found here.

Tour de Fat shuttle
The Colorado State athletics department has arranged a partnership with organizers of the annual Tour de Fat event to provide free shuttle bus service between Old Town Fort Collins and Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium for Saturday's season-opening football game.

Shuttle bus service to the stadium will begin at 1 p.m. for Tour de Fat participants, originating from the old Steele's Market parking lot located on West Mountain Ave., across from St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Tour-goers may lock their bikes at that location, but must retrieve their bikes and remove them from the lock-up location by 9 p.m. on Saturday. Service from Old Town to the stadium will run from 1-3 p.m. and will resume with return service from Hughes Stadium to Old Town at the start of the fourth quarter. The last shuttle will leave Hughes Stadium one hour after the game's conclusion.
