Football Pro Day set for March 9 at CSU

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State will hold its on-campus football Pro Day on Wednesday. Draft-eligible players will take part in the timing and testing process for NFL scouting and front-office personnel in the CSU football weight room and Indoor Practice Facility.
Numerous former Rams are expected to participate on Wednesday, including Rashard Higgins and DeAndre Elliott, who also performed at the NFL Scouting Combine last month in Indianapolis, and several all-conference performers.
Elliott also participated in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl along with Sam Carlson, while Kivon Cartwright and Cory James competed in the East-West Shrine Game, Martavius Foster played in the College Gridiron Showcase and Steven Walker took part in the Tropic Bowl. Several Rams finished their careers among the best in school history, including James (24.0 sacks, fourth) and Higgins, a 2014 consensus All-American who holds eight school records.
The Pro Day process features measurements - including height, weight, wingspan, vertical jump, standing board jump and bench press - before scouts evaluate the NFL-hopefuls on the field, including 40-yard dash, pro shuttle, three-cone drill and position-specific workouts. All 32 NFL teams have had a representative on hand each of the past two years.
The event is closed to the public, but fans are encouraged to follow the action via CSU football's Twitter account. CSU has had four NFL Draft picks in the past two seasons, and is one of 15 schools nationally to have two selections in the first three rounds of each of the past two drafts. The 2016 NFL Draft will take place April 28-30 in Chicago, Ill.
